Barry’s passion for Jesus and love for teenagers has placed him on the cutting edge of youth ministry nationally and globally.
Dr. Barry St. Clair writes for, speaks to and equips youth leaders, parents and students. To influence as many teenagers as possible to passionately pursue Jesus expresses his vision. Along with the Reach Out team, he equips leaders for Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry through the church to reach the younger generation.
From high school in Princeton, WV to Davidson College, where he played on the #3 basketball team in the nation, to receiving a master’s and doctor’s degree in theology, to running the Boston Marathon, Barry has enthusiastically enjoyed pursuing Jesus, learning and sports.
As a visionary leader, he started Fellowship of Christian Athletes at his college, learned youth ministry in Young Life, played on the first Athletes in Action basketball team with Campus Crusade for Christ, created youth evangelism for the North American Mission Board by starting Super Summer camps and youth leader training. For eight years he planted and led a young church. Barry helped found the National Network of Youth Ministries, the Youth Ministry Executive Council and Campus Alliance—all for the purpose of reaching every student with the life-changing person of Jesus Christ.
Through Reach Out, Barry has developed Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry, a biblical strategy for encouraging and equipping youth leaders. With this strategy, he has developed Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry equipping teams in the United States, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, South Africa, Australia, Cuba and Egypt. Energized by God’s power, Barry and the Reach Out team plan to equip 25,000 youth leaders globally through the Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry mentoring process.
Author of over 20 books, Barry has written for youth leaders, parents and students. His books include Ignite the Fire: Kindling a Passion for Christ in Your Kids, eight books in the Moving Toward Maturity series and Jesus: No Equal.
After the death of his first wife, Carol, Barry married Lawanna. They live in Atlanta, GA and have a combined family of nine children and seven grandchildren!
