Garth Heckman has worked with teens for more than twenty years. From the inner city of Chicago to the suburbs of Wisconsin, Garth has served as youth pastor to churches ranging in size from forty to two thousand members. Garth now serves as the pastor of Harmony Church in Lakeville, Minnesota leading one of the fastest-growing ELCA youth ministries in the country.
Garth has been an editor and writer of VIVID, a youth worker’s audio magazine, and has been a regular contributor to YouthWorker Journal and FCA Magazine. He has also written numerous worship and guitar songs, including Guitar Worship, Volume I, published by Hal Leonard. Additionally, Garth has authored the curriculum for “LifeWise,” an abstinence-training program used in thousands of public schools.
Garth has more than twenty years of experience in public speaking, giving presentations to both teens and faculty at schools across the country on such topics as respect, self-esteem, abstinence, choices, and diversity. He also is a sought-after speaker at numerous national seminars for youth and youth pastors.
