GUIDELINES FOR WRITERS
For Your Information
Seek is an illustrated weekly take-home or pass-along paper designed to appeal to adults. Seek first appeared in its present form in 1970, expanding a four-page Sunday school lesson leaflet that was published for ninety-five years into a new concept for personal spiritual enrichment. It can be used in a Sunday morning Bible class, in a weekly small group discussion, or as light inspirational reading for individuals and the family.
Materials Accepted for Publication
ARTICLES—500 to 1,200 words in length. Usual rate of payment is $.07 per word for first rights and $.05 per word for reprint rights. No simultaneous submissions, please! Articles written for publication in Seek should be on theme in one of the following categories: inspirational, devotional, personal, human interest, first-person testimonies of Christian life or experiences, true-to-life happenings, vignettes, emotional situations or problems, examples of answered prayer. The stories must be wholesome, vibrant, and relevant for today’s reader, uplifting rather than preachy, and have a title that demands the article be read. No poetry, please!
Articles for Seek must be submitted according to dates on the theme list. Expect to hear a response within three months of the deadline date. Complimentary copies of articles are mailed to writers following publication.
PHOTOGRAPHS—The need for general photos is currently being met. But writers may send specific, professional-quality photos to accompany articles.
Instructions
On the first page of each article, please include: your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and word count. Also note the issue number and date (from the theme list) for which the article is intended.
REGULAR MAIL SUBMISSIONS: Submit manuscripts on 8 1/2 x 11-inch paper, printed on one side only, double-spaced, with generous margins. Enclose a SASE for each manuscript.
E-MAIL SUBMISSIONS: Send your article as a Word document e-mail attachment to: seek@standardpub.com. In the subject line include: “submission:
We are unable to critique or offer suggestions in regard to contributions that are not accepted. Feel free to write for a free copy, enclosing a 6 x 9-inch self-addressed stamped envelope for return of the sample copy.
